"And they all lived happily ever after." These words captivate children and adults and reveal a longing for a place where everything is right. In reality, God is creating a new kingdom that will far surpass anything our minds can imagine. The earth will be restored and everything will finally be as it was in the beginning: perfect. The Bible offers a glimpse of the future to us: "I saw a new heaven and a new earth... God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." 13

The highlight of this new kingdom is that we will forever be with God. Author
C. S. Lewis compared the first step into the new kingdom as "Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on for ever: in which every chapter is better than the one before."14 The Bible says this new kingdom "does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb (Jesus) is its lamp."15
